Minor Ailments

Can’t get an appointment with your GP? Have symptoms and need professional healthcare advice? Give us a call or send us an email to request a consultation with our experienced pharmacists.

They will be able to offer you advice and recommend appropriate treatment which can be delivered for £3 or free of charge if over £30. You can also collect your treatment from the Pharmacy directly.

Consultation fee is £15 plus the cost of recommended treatment.

Below are a range of minor ailments services we provide at Remedium Pharmacy. Only ailments that require prescription only medicines treatment are listed.

We can advise and provide many more treatment as any community pharmacy.

Urinary Tract infections (UTIs)

These are infections that affects your urinary tract.

Such as cystitis (bladder), urethritis (urethra) and kidney infections. Sometimes UTIs might be treated with antibiotics but they are not always needed.

We can treat Uncomplicated urinary tract Infection (UTI), with Nitrofurantoin for those who meet the criteria below.

  • Women who are not pregnant.
  • Women aged 18 to 65 years of age.
  • Women who present with severe symptoms.
  • Women who present with 3 or more of the following symptoms:
  1. Dysuria (pain or burning when peeing)
  2. New nocturia (peeing more at night than usual)
  3. Urine cloudy to the naked eye urinary
  4. Frequent and urgency to urinate.
  5. Suprapubic tenderness (lower tummy pain, under ribs and back pain)

Impetigo

This is a skin infection that is very contagious but not serious. It is common in children, but anyone can get infected. With treatment, this can be resolved with 7-10 days.

We can treat impetigo with Fusidic acid cream for children over 1 to treat the symptoms.

Period delay

We can prescribe Norethisterone tablet, used to delay period in women of childbearing potential.

You must be:

  • 16 years of age and above
  • want to delay menstruation for a specific occasion e.g., holiday, wedding.
  • wish to delay menstruation for up to 14 days.

This treatment is intended for non-regular use.

You will be advised to start taking tablets 3-4 days before the start of your period, ONE tablet THREE times a day. Your period should start 2-3 days after stopping.

Erectile dysfunction

We offer erectile dysfunction treatment following a consultation with our pharmacist and meeting certain criteria.

Morning after pill

We provide emergency hormonal contraception to prevent pregnancy for women of childbearing age who have had unprotected sex. The morning after pill serves as a backup contraception. This is not a primary method of contraception.
